Siddharth Shingade creates a personal language, populating his surfaces with tall figures that appear to be wrapped in history, with a million stories to tell. His choice of palette resonates the intimate relationship he shares with his homeland, Marathwada in India. The deep browns and golden yellows draw upon the warmth of its climate as well as its people. The mood in his paintings, however, is somber, perhaps a reflection of the oppression faced by his people & more so the women of Marathwada.
